Frankly, I was disappointed to see the following remark in one of your replies.
The question you raise is basically one of cultural difference.
You're wasting your energy trying to fight it.
I am sure you agree that the very progress of human civilisation is due to people such as Galileo Galilei, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, to name just a few, who fought hard and succeeded in defying the then-established cultures. One of my dreams is to live in a just society free of stereotypes and generalisations, where individual human dignity and diversity of values are respected, rather than in a society which labels and categorises people by appearance and/or by language as black, white, latino, hispanic, asian, anglophone, francophone, visible minority, etc. Do you dismiss this dream because it is considered culturally incorrect? I would like your column to enlighten the general public of the historical importance of fighting the traditions and customs instead of conforming to become sheep.
