This is to let you know about my experience during your visit to Canada from 1992-06-30 to 1992-07-02, and to give you some constructive suggestions for future visits.
Although I prefer a republic to a monarchy, I have utmost respect for the Queen as the head of state. My family even greeted you at the Ottawa International Airport 1992-06-30, although the main purpose of our presence there was to witness the Concorde supersonic jet.
On 1992-07-01, my family of 4 was driving on a highway linking Québec and Ontario. All of a sudden, my car encountered a mysterious traffic slowdown with a presence of the police but without any sign of an accident. It turned into a complete stop with no explanation whatsoever. The highway became a parking lot for 45 minutes or so, and only after that it was learned that the stoppage was caused by the Queen's motorcade. The road blockage had been neither announced nor anticipated in this area as far as I know.
Thus, my family's carefully-planned outing to the "Canada In Space: Destination Earth" exhibit at the Museum of Science and Technology was completely spoiled. We had only 20 minutes to go through the entire exhibit, and it was not pleasant at all with small children.
I am sure that it is not your intention to disrupt other people's lives, but it is what happens whenever your motorcade passes through a modern city. Ordinary people have a life to live, a business to run, and time is money. Incidentally, if you ever yield to the pressure to pay tax in the Great Britain, you might want to consider paying tax to Canada, too.
I am not seeking any compensation or an apology for my ordeal, but am simply wondering if you might consider doing a "TeleVisit" next time, and send a Concord to Canada for an Air Show. Since I happen to be a futurist, let me explain what is happening to the development of civilisation.
Using the state-of-the-art technology, you could "pay a visit" without being physically there, breaking the geographical barrier. This way, you can minimise the energy use, and contribute to the preservation of the environment while making the same level of commitment to the people you visit regardless of the location. Exactly the same speech can be read from the Buckingham Palace or any other castle you own, and be made as if you are standing at the podium at the Parliament Hill in Ottawa (Ontario) Canada, and many other places at the same time. This would increase the effectiveness and fairness of your "visit". What's more, your stress level would be reduced, leading to fewer problems with those marriages of the younger generation of the royal family.
My company would be very glad to make an arrangement to be your consultant, if you wish, and to give you a presentation on what's happening in the world of information and communications technology which will eventually lead to telepresence with 3-dimensional holographic video and holophonic audio, virtual reality and cyberspace. In addition, you may be able to directly reply to rumours and concerns raised by the citizens, answer questions and deny allegations of royal marriage breakdowns and suicide attempts, for example, all through electronic mail and bulletin board system. I will be ready when you are ready, Your Majesty.
