1996-10-07|Statistics Canada CANSIM database and GST
To whom it may concern
I have recently purchased a population data set from the Statistics Canada CANSIM <http://www.statcan.ca/Documents/English/CANSIM/> database.
I was shocked to see that GST was not charged. When I called Revenue Canada to inquire about the GST on on-line data sale, I was told that GST applies to any data sales to Canadian residents.
Could you please forward this message to the appropriate authority who can clarify the applicability of GST on data sales, and rectify the situation if necessary?
