I have recently helped my son François build a Helium-Neon laser. I had known that a fluorescent lamp lights up in a microwave oven, so I placed a HeNe laser tube into a microwave oven, together with a glass of water to balance the load, and observed the lasing effect when excited by microwave energy.
Has this laser excitation phenomenon been known or published before? If not, I would like my discovery to be known as "Sunatori's Microwave Laser Excitation".
