All 5 members of my family enthusiastically participated in a contest last year organised by the Discovery Channel to bilingually name the new generation of Canadarm. I believe the winner was "Canadapt". In a recent exhibition booth, however, I was told that the new generation of robotic system is still called the Mobile Servicing System (MSS).
Although it was stated very clear that the use of the winning name by the CSA is not guaranteed, I would like to know why the CSA has chosen not to use the winning name. If it were found to be trademark or copyright infringement, I would like to know. At least, you owe it to the honest people who worked so hard in coming up with the ideas.
P.S. I would like to be notified when the new round of astronaut recruitment is announced, hopefully in 18 months or so. Previously, my poor unaided vision made it impossible for me to apply, but I had it corrected by LASIK.
