I used to use Scotia VISA exclusively for all credit card purchases. As a valued(?) Scotia customer, I made numerous requests over the years to my branch as well as to 1-800-BNS-1234 for an authorised payment of the entire balance at the end of the month from my Powerchequing account to my Scotia VISA account. I was told repeatedly that I could do it with a preset amount but not the entire amount, but my feature request for a simple service upgrade has gone into a black hole.
Well, I got tired of making monthly transfers via ScotiaOnline on the Internet or TeleScotia on the telephone. I then took up an offer by Bank of Montreal for automatic payment from my Scotiabank Powerchequing account to my Bank of Montreal MasterCard account. Thus, 100 % of my credit card purchase is now by Bank of Montreal MasterCard, and I no longer have to do any manual bill payment at all!
You would understand that I prefer to do business with Scotiabank, but the situation has forced me to do business elsewhere...
I guess this discussion would be academic if Scotiabank is to merge with Bank of Montreal, as some media outlets have speculated :-).
Thank you very much for your attention.
To whom it may concern
Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I look forward to the system enhancements and a notification. Even though the automatic payment option may not appear to enhance your profit, I have to keep sufficient funds in my Powerchequing account, i.e., more than $20 000 CAD which earns little interest. Since I save time by not having to do manual transfer, I would be happy to contribute to Scotiabank's bottom line this way.
P.S. I pray for Scotiabank's recovery from the disaster in New York City.
