Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), also known as "Star Wars", Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) and National Missile Defense (NMD) are all based on the design philosophy of destroying the target by hit-to-kill kinetic energy weapons, space-based or ground-based high-energy lasers, etc. However, there has been much controversy on their feasibility and effectiveness.
Instead of blowing up the target with a ballistic kill vehicle, Sunatori's Piggyback Missile Defence (PMD) would seek out the target, gently attach itself to the target in a piggyback fashion, re-direct the target with its superior thrust, then land safely or splash into the water without causing any explosion.
