2003-12-03|Day Pass for Ottawa Citizen Electronic Edition
To whom it may concern
I am a long-time subscriber of the Ottawa Citizen. Today (2003-12-03), the newspaper arrived with vertical stripes of black ink about 150 mm in width, due to a mishap in the printing process. The stripes are on Page A3, A5, B6 and D6, strategically located to render interesting articles partially or completely unreadable.
I realise that as a paid subscriber, the Ottawa Citizen is willing to send out a replacement newspaper without charge. However, it would involve somebody driving extra to my house, contributing to air pollution, greenhouse gas, etc.
I am pleased that the Ottawa Citizen has introduced the Electronic Edition at last. I am not quite ready to switch because the Internet-connected computer in my home is shared among 5 family members, some of whom demand heavy usage.
Therefore, I would like to request that a "Day Pass" to the Electronic Edition be introduced for access to the full electronic edition just for a day, with a temporary login password. This could even be extended to a "Weekly/Monthly Gift Subscription" to be marketed as a gift access, further increasing the interest (and eventually the revenue and profit) in the Electronic Edition.
BTW, my computer is an Apple iMac with Mac OS X 10.3. My web browser is Safari 1.0. When I click on "Try a Demo", the Olive ActivePaper software gives the following error message.
Your browser environment is not fully supported. Do you want to continue anyway?
Clicking on "Continue" enables me to read the contents with some problems like overlapping text and more pop-up error messages. I would like to request that the Safari browser be fully supported.
