2007-06-17|Many believe minorities should change their ways, poll finds
To the editor
Even if some of the members of minority groups completely change their cultural ways to be like the rest of Canadians and to perfectly fit the traditionally Canadian mould as the majority of adults in this country think they should do according to the new poll, they may still be categorised, stereotyped and differentiated based on their place of birth, etc. It is hypocrisy if "absolute integration" means "legal discrimination".
It is high time that the designation/identification of "visible minority" and "ethnocultural communities" in Canada be eliminated, which the United Nations's Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination declared to be discriminatory in March 2007.
