The novel Magnetic Membrane Micro Valve controls liquid absorption through a film or membrane material with an external magnetic field provided by a permanent magnet. The moving part of the micro valve itself comprises a ferromagnetic material (Fe, Ni, Co).
The novel Magnetic Membrane Micro Valve involves a controllable activation mechanism with extreme simplicity. Cost is kept at a minimum thanks to simple construction and to a minimum number of components.
The novel Magnetic Membrane Micro Valve has an anchoring mechanism to hold it in place in a structure. Although permanent magnets are inexpensive, the external permanent magnet is re-usable in order to reduce environmental footprint.

The first configuration is naturally closed. A piece of ferromagnetic material is securely attached to the top portion of the membrane which is formed by making an incision into the membrane. When an external magnetic field is applied by approaching a permanent magnet to the membrane, the valve opens.
The second configuration is naturally closed or naturally open. A hole is made through the membrane. A circular piece of ferromagnetic material with a hole is rotatably attached to the portion of the membrane. When an external magnetic field is applied to the membrane by rotating a permanent magnet, the valve opens or closes.
