I was cross-country skiing on the golf course during a heavy snow storm. I noticed that most trees had snow either all around the trunk, or on one side while the other side had a lack of snow. However, some trees have a trunk which is clear of snow evenly 360 degrees in a deep well. What is the aerodynamic explanation?
