I drink a few glasses of red wine every day for health reason, i.e., anti-oxidant (resveratrol and polyphenol). Normally, I do not have any symptom of drunkenness, other than falling asleep while watching a TV programme.
Last night, I felt really drunk, i.e., nausea and headache. When I woke up during the night, I had to go to the washroom to defecate. Although I did not vomit, I had a fever and constipation, followed by diarrhea. It was typical alcohol poisoning.
The only difference from the routine was that I did not defecate during the day, which is quite abnormal. So, I believe that my colon was clogged up, causing the alcohol to stay longer in the intestine which absorbed more ethanol than usual. This exceeded the capacity of the liver to process C2H5OH, causing ethanol intoxication. I believe that it is a logical explanation.
