I have followed your remarkable career ever since I noted your quest for automotive safety with your book "Unsafe at Any Speed" back in the 1970's.
Recently, I had a serious incident in which my car's transmission gear was at N (neutral) while I parked my car at a hotel's parking lot to attend a seminar. Although the parking lot had almost no slope, my car apparently slipped to end up blocking the traffic into and out of the hotel's parking lot for more than an hour. Luckily, there was no damage to any person or to any object.
It is inconceivable that I left the transmission gear at N (neutral), but I admitted my guilt because I had left my car doors unlocked. So, I paid $50.00 CAD for the towing cost. However, I believe that it is quite possible for the automobile manufacturer to have the automatic transmission gear set to P (park) as soon as the car's ignition key shuts off the engine. Therefore, it could be argued that every automobile manufacturer is negligent in not providing such an obvious safety feature. This type of unsafe-at-zero-speed incident is expected to increase due to the aging population.
Please let me know, Mr. Nader, if you think that there is a possibility of launching a class-action lawsuit against all automobile manufacturers for this negligence. If so, please note that I will fully co-operate with you.
