2014-01-15|Clement repays cost of gold-embossed cards
To the editor
It is nice to hear that a cabinet minister has paid back taxpayers for a set of gold-embossed business cards. He broke the government rules, but the rules should be changed so that cabinet ministers, members of parliament, senators and other government executives could order gold-embossed cards as long as they pay back DOUBLE the extra charge of such gold-embossed business cards out of their own deep pockets.
This way, gold-embossed business cards, and potentially any other stationery items, will become a profit centre for the government. Thus, taxpayers will be happy, cabinet ministers, members of parliament, senators and other government executives will be happy, and business-card suppliers will be happy. Such Canadian ingenuity for maximum satisfaction will create a win-win-win situation.
The rule to ban unilingual business cards should stay, of course.
