2014-05-09|President's Lecture Series: Sustainable Polymers from Orange Peels, Starch and Soybeans
Dr. Marc Dubé
Congratulations for wonderful President's Lecture "Sustainable Polymers from Orange Peels, Starch and Soybeans" at uOttawa's SITE on 2014-05-09.
I wanted to know the difference between polymer and plastic. It seems that the answer is not very clear. Here is a typical explanation: "The difference between polymer and plastic is complicated as all plastics are polymers but not all polymers are plastic."
I would like to thank you for enlightening me that over-used frying oil contains free radicals. I used to re-use canola oil many times in the deep fryer. I hope that drinking mega-doze of red wine with anti-oxidant resveratrol had countered the carcinogenic effect. As "Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal (Reader's Digest)" states, "natural" does not mean healthy. After all, fossil fuels used to be plants and animals in nature.
