2015-09-18|Developer proposes 'landmark' condo building for West Wellington
To the Editor
The artist's rendering for the new Mizrahi Developments condo proposal in West Willington in Ottawa Citizen's article "The latest renderings released by Mizrahi show a building with a pronounced green roof and corner tower with spire" (2015-09-18) is misleading. The proposed building's green roof in the picture looks beautiful, but its original colour will be brown for years to come after the construction. In fact, some of the people who attended the public meeting would be long dead before the roof becomes fully green.
The Supreme Court building's green copper roof was replaced in 1995. After 20 years since the replacement, the copper roof is still brown, yet to turn to magnificent green. The colour change is caused by acid in the atmosphere, but there is much less acid rain now than before due to effective pollution control in Canada.
Thank you very much for your attention.

Thank you for revising the colour of the roof in Ottawa Citizen's articles "Mizrahi's latest rendering for its proposed condominium tower at Wellington and Island Park, with a darker roof replacing the pronounced green roof of a rendering from earlier this year" (2015-10-23) and "OMB approves 'landmark' condo tower for Ottawa" (2015-12-05).
