To the Editor
In the article entitled "City rethinks $500 bill for mowing 88-year-old woman's lawn (2015-10-28), The Public Citizen asks: "How on earth can the city justify charging a little old lady almost $500 to mow her lawn under its property standards bylaw?" The real question is: "How on earth does such property standards bylaw exist in the 21st century??" Unkempt lawn without herbicides or pesticides is all-natural, and does not cause any harm to anybody. Therefore, such intrusive bylaw should be repealed, just as the Ontario Green Energy Act lifted clothesline ban in 2008.
