2017-05-12|Routes Car Rental's "Unlimited" is not unlimited
To whom it may concern
I searched for a vehicle at many car rental companies's websites and chose an SUV at Routes Rental Car mostly because its website clearly says "Free Miles: Unlimited" without any fine print whatsoever. Selecting a vehicle and clicking button "Reserve Now" also shows Rental Itinerary with "UNLIMITED MILES: $0.00" without any fine print whatsoever.
When I returned the vehicle 2 weeks later, I was told that I had exceeded the limit. The agent pointed out to me POLICIES: "LOCAL RENTERS (ONTARIO and QUEBEC RESIDENTS) DO NOT QUALIFY FOR UNLIMITED MILEAGE. MILEAGE IS RESTRICTED TO 200 KMS PER DAY, 1000 KMS PER WEEK UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 1400 KMS PER MONTH ADDITIONAL KMS ARE CHARGED AT $0.20 PER KM."
Although the conflict was resolved peacefully, I believe that this discrepancy is clearly misleading and deceptive, to say the least.
