2019-02-21|IEEE Collabratec User Interface Redesign Group versus ProjectBoard Braintrust
To whom it may concern
I recently joined ENGINEERING.com's ProjectBoard, which is a social network for problem solvers to share ideas and develop projects. Although its goals and objectives are different from those of IEEE Collabratec, its User Interface (UI) aspects are still under active development with frequent fine-tuning updates based on user feedback. For example, hot topics include "Recent Activity", "SORT: LAST > FIRST", "LOAD MORE", etc. So, maybe ProjectBoard and IEEE Collabratec can learn from each other.
Since the IEEE Collabratec app is no longer in iOS's App Store or in Android's Google Play, I see questions about updated mobile app. In iOS's Safari, you can visit the IEEE Collabratec website, then tap the Share icon (the small box with an up arrow) followed by "Add to Home Screen". This process creates an icon on the home screen, and tapping it leads to the re-designed mobile version of IEEE Collabratec website on the iPhone. I do not know how to do this in Android.
Fed up with super-annoying auto-play videos in a bloated Facebook app on the iPhone more than 3 years ago, I deleted it and switched to the Safari browser version of Facebook by creating the Facebook icon on the home screen. Since then, I have used the same technique for many other websites, i.e., Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. The number of apps is kept minimal, saving iPhone's resources (CPU and memory).
With such simplification, the IEEE team would no longer have to develop and maintain 2 code bases. Maybe the IEEE team can optimize IEEE Collabratec's favicon (Favourite icon) so that the icon on iPhone's home screen would show a distinct IEEE Collabratec logo ("CT" with a GREEN background) to maximize the best of both worlds, please.
Thank you very much for your attention.

The IEEE Collabratec icon on the iPhone (iOS) is not an app but a bookmark created by "Add to Home Screen". Clicking "Profile" on the menu shows "Your IEEE Collabratec® Public Profile URL", which should be rendered as "Your IEEE Collabratec® Public Profile URL".
