2019-09-25|OC Transpo's Bus Stop Names

To whom it may concern

• As a novice user of OC Transpo, I often get confused whether there is a connection between a particular bus stop and an LRT station, especially by the on-board stop and route announcement/display system. I propose that Transpo's bus stops be renamed to append "LRT" for crystal-clear identification to help the riders, especially the visitors. Here are some examples.
  • Bayview (3060) -> Bayview LRT
  • Blair (3027) -> Blair LRT
  • Greenboro (3037) -> Greenboro LRT
  • Hurdman (3023) -> Hurdman LRT
  • Rideau Centre (3009) -> Rideau Centre LRT
  • Tunney's Pasture (3011) -> Tunney's Pasture LRT
  • ...

• OC Transpo says the following.

  You can transfer between any bus route or train line, heading in any direction, at no extra charge until your transfer time expires (90 minutes during weekdays - up to two hours on evenings and weekends)

• Although the LRT is quite fast, the necessity to make more connections between buses and trains means that the end-to-end travel time has often become longer. For example, my trip back from the Infinity Convention Centre took longer than 90 minutes. Therefore, please increase the transfer time from 90 minutes to 2 hours for all times (not just evenings and weekends), as STO practices.

To whom it may concern

• It is great that OC Transpo offers "Free Wi-Fi at Line 1 underground stations from TELUS!". Since I require Wi-Fi access in order to formulate my trips on OC Transpo using Apple Maps's Transit on my iPhone, please extend Wi-Fi access to above-ground stations as well, as STO offers at all of their Rapibus stations.

To whom it may concern

• Bus route numbers in Canada's Capital Region are confusing. For example, both OC Transpo's route 85 and STO's route 85 go through downtown Gatineau, QC. In the spirit of interprovincial cooperation towards integration, I propose that the route numbers be prefixed like C-85 and S-85, just as the House of Commons bills are prefixed with "C" and the Senate bills are prefixed with "S".
