2020-02-07|Sunatori's Suspension (Static Magnetic Bearing)
Potential Discovery or Invention
An outer ring-shaped ferrite magnet is placed on a non-magnetic platform. An inner disc-shaped rare-earth magnet is securely attached to a non-magnetic rod. Equilibrium of electromagnetic force is achieved when the inner magnet is placed at the middle of the annular outer magnet in N-S/N-S configuration, forming a static magnetic bearing. Suspension is maintained even if the platform is inclined at any angle.
It is far from the holy grail of Gravity-Balanced Passive Static Magnetic Levitator to defy Earnshaw's Theorem, but industrial applications of this apparatus are quite possible.
