2020-02-11|Sunatori's Cradle (Quasi-Elastic Collision Frequency of Pendula)
Potential Discovery or Invention
The natural characteristic frequency of a pendulum depends not on mass but on length of the string. However, the collision frequency of 2 bodies increases exponentially as the distance between the 2 bodies becomes smaller and smaller due to imperfect elasticity, friction, etc. The plot of frequency (Y-axis) versus time (X-axis) is exponential, but not asymptotic to infinity but to 0 at a threshold when the 2 bodies become static, i.e., a step function.
The phenomenon of (infinity = 0) is analogous to a black hole's singularity beyond event horizon, and also to the colour wheel in which the highest end of the electromagnetic spectrum (VIOLET) touches the lowest end of the electromagnetic spectrum (RED). Also, as an object approaches the speed of light, its mass may not become infinite.
