Here is the old asphalt roof (IKO with 25-year guarantee) after 20 years versus the new rubber roof (Euroshield with 50-year guarantee) at installation.

Snow guards were installed because the surface of rubber shingles is much smoother than that of asphalt shingles.
This blue jay likes the rubber roof as it stayed there for several minutes.
At the same time, I had eavestrough/rain gutter removed because the foundation is sealed tight after a basement flood many years ago. No more water leakage, clogging by leaves, noise by woodpeckers, etc. Also, falling dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) from the eaves cleans up the entrance and the walkway quite effectively.
I had one downspout of eavestrough/rain gutter preserved as a monument.
