I had seen Comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) in 1997 and Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) in 2020. When SpaceWeather.com issued Bright Evening Comet Alert, I set out to observe Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) in 2024, following their instructions to look west after sunset in the golf course. Comet C/2024 S1 (ATLAS) is coming next.
While looking for Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS), WHITE tail appeared and disappeared after a few minutes, so it must have been a contrail vapour trail, which is line-shaped clouds produced by aircraft jet engine exhaust. Some time later, GREY tail appeared and disappeared as well.
Meanwhile, my professional artist daughter Véronique observed this contrail, which looks like a scene in Armageddon (1998).
