2001-01-26|Patents Granted for Multi-Lingual Knowledge Matrix

HyperInfo Canada Inc. (PSX:HIC) today announced that two software patents have been granted for "Multi-Lingual Knowledge Matrix" in which multi-lingual knowledge packets represent mutually-exclusive knowledge at high level of abstraction.
This Canadian invention is a paradigm shift from translation efforts/services to coding knowledge packets in a correct-by-construction method. The technique has useful applications in describing structured materials such as HyperInfo's prototype "Food Nutrition Knowledge Matrix" which organises hundreds of foods and nutrients in a simple and consistent manner in both English and French from a single source.
The technology, which promises to facilitate the development of bilingual products and services, has been nominated for the "Manning Innovation Awards" and for the "Concours Les Mercuriades", and is available for licensing. It will be of immediate interest to the software and electronic publishing industries.
