To all Canadians

In 1992, Simon Sunatori, P.Eng./ing., M.Eng., made a proposal to the Parliament of Canada's Special Joint Committee On a Renewed Canada. Here is an excerpt from his submission.

Option HyperCanada: Towards Maximum Satisfaction (1992-01-10)

With advances in telecommunications and electronics technologies, it really will not matter where one is located to make a decision. Every business of the Parliament of Canada (both House of Commons and Senate or Council of Federations) could effectively be conducted from representatives in remote locations through teleconferences and a push-button electronic voting, eventually in Virtual Reality Cyberspace. Demographically speaking, despite the vast size of the country the concept of pure regional representation is already somewhat obsolete by the high mobility of people. Note the existence of so many ex-Members of Parliament becoming Ottawa residents after retirement.

My company would be very glad to make an arrangement to be your consultant, if you wish, and to give you a presentation on what's happening in the world of information and communications technology which will eventually lead to telepresence with 3-dimensional holographic video and holophonic audio, virtual reality and cyberspace. In addition, you may be able to directly reply to rumours and concerns raised by the citizens, answer questions and deny allegations of royal marriage breakdowns and suicide attempts, for example, all through electronic mail and bulletin board system. I will be ready when you are ready, Your Majesty.
